Getting started on my General Grant Tank, so far so good. I'm still trying to figure out a way to make the VVSS suspension reliable. I'm probably going to have to change the way I construct it since the thinness of some parts are making the wood split when I drill holes inside it.
Prototype VVSS bogie 1
This was quite the failure, but I've learned some lessons from this one on construction of the bogie.
Prototype 2 VVSS bogie 2
Much better. Though I think I miscalculated the width of the bogie and as you can see, the top is screwed in very crooked... it was about 1/4 an inch too short. Otherwise it came out very good, next to a bottle of Water+ for comparision.
And side view. The supports for the return roller is a bit too tall I think... just a matter of making them shorter the next time.
Lower Hull
Think this is a good start... time to get some shafts and sprockets and mount the EVWs that will be powering this thing. The hull is about 34 inches long at 1/6 scale.
